Michael Lee Donovick, 79, left us too soon, on June 26, 2021. He was born October 28, 1941, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington. Other than his military service with the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1962, Grandpa Mikey lived his entire life in the Harbor. He was a member of the ILWU and worked the Port of Grays Harbor for 38 years. In retirement, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he took great pride in his winemaking skills. He descended from a long line of Old World vintners and he mastered the family craft that he started learning when he was ten years old. He was known to say “My family is my wealth.” Nothing made him happier than spending time in the company of the many people he considered to be his “family.”
Michael was preceded in death by his mother Betty Lou Donovick, his baby brother Frederick, his father Mike Donovick, Sr., his brother Matt Donovick, and his wife Julene Donovick. He is survived by his children and step-children Troy Luke, Mia Donovick Barnhart, Lani Donovick, Justine Schneider, August Lehman, Joel Baxter, and Ken Housden.
A celebration of life will be held at the Moose Lodge in Montesano on July 24, 2021, at 3:00 p.m.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, WA.
