David Jon Trusty was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on August 17, 1944. He was the second of eight children to Alvin and Dorthy (Halverson) Trusty. As a child David had a passion for agriculture. He was active within 4-H and FFA showing equine and livestock.

Soon after graduation he joined the U.S. Navy in 1962 as a photographer. There he met the love of his life, Carol Adell Campbell of Olympia, Washington. This relationship bloomed into marriage on November 25th, 1964. After the Navy they moved back to David’s home state of Iowa. David received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree from the University of Missouri in 1972. David worked many different agriculture jobs, including many years at Stickle Cattle Farm, and years farming with his dad.

In 1967 they welcomed their first-born, Carlene, followed by Dayal in 1973, Darren in 1976, and Cordell in 1983.

In 1986 David and Carol made their way to Washington, and after several temporary jobs, David finally found his place at Briggs Nursery in Olympia. In 1991 Briggs began the process of moving to Porter with David as Manager. This allowed for the purchase of the family farm in Porter in 1994, which was the beginning of DC Farms, and where he remained until his death Dec 7th, 2024.

David Trusty lived a life of Service to Others, and jumped into action with many volunteer groups, often having leadership roles. While living in Grays Harbor, he was a member of the Volunteer Porter Fire Department, Sharon Grange, Faith Lutheran Church, East County Christmas for Kids, Elma Ag. Boosters and Advisory Counsel, started the Elma FFA Nursery Landscape team, Grays Harbor Farm Bureau, and Grays Harbor Fair Board member for many years, just to name a few. He received many awards for his service. He was a mentor, leader, role model, support system, and friend to many.

David and Carol just shared their 60th wedding anniversary in November. He is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Carlene (Ben) Lewis of McCleary, daughter Dayal Trusty of Rochester, son Darren (Cathy) Trusty of Oakville, and son Cordell (Tiffany) Trusty of Elma, as well 8 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
