Jack Gerald Cotey, Sr., 57, Satsop resident and area electrician, died Sunday, January 7, 2024 at his home in Satsop.

Jack was born on December 21, 1966, in Aberdeen, Washington to Gordon Cotey and Christine (Osbekoff) Cotey. He grew up in Montesano and graduated from Montesano High School in 1986. He then graduated from Centralia Community College with his AA in Energy Technology. He later went to Grays Harbor College and obtained a Certificate of Achievement for Commercial Transportation & Maintenance for his CDL.

Jack, like his predeceased grandfather Fred Cotey, was a bit of a “Jack” of all trades. He worked for various companies as a maintenance electrician, millwright electrician, new construction electrician, lead maintenance, mechanic, welder fabricator and even a log truck driver for a time.

Jack was a member of the Montesano Moose Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars, golfing, kayaking, riding quads and playing in the mud. He especially enjoyed spending time with his kids. His favorite times were spent camping with his kids, mother, father, sisters, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephew, aunts, uncles and cousins, at the Cotey/Cox’s family place on Case Inet in Allyn, Washington.

Jack is survived by his mother, Christine “Tina” Cotey of Elma; a son Jack Cotey Jr. of Aberdeen and a daughter McKenzie Cotey of Aberdeen; Two sisters: Sandra Fosbinder (Husband Darin Fosbinder) and Melissa Cook (Husband Charles Cook) both of Elma.

Jack will truly be missed by his family and friends. A celebration of Jack’s life is being held at the Olympic View Grange, 466 Old Monte Brady Rd, Montesano, on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 2:00 pm.
