Barbara Jean Arnold Corey passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013 at the home she shared with her husband of almost 59 years; and surrounded by family members.

Barbara was born on September 23, 1933 in Ashland, Oregon but spent most of her childhood years in Hoquiam, Washington. She is a 1951 graduate of Hoquiam High School.

Barbara met her husband, Max, at Sears and Roebuck in Grays Harbor, where she worked as a telephone operator and he was employed as an appliance repairman.

After becoming married on March 27, 1954 at the Arnold Family home on Cherry Street in Hoquiam, the couple eventually moved to Silverdale in Kitsap County for 40 years; where Barbara assisted her husband with his profession of building several homes and apartment buildings and various inventions; with Barbara herself spending many years working at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, most notably in the Payroll Department.

In retirement, the couple then spent several years traveling the United States in various motor homes; including motor homes her husband either build or modified. The couple traveled through 39 different states, and in particular, enjoyed visiting national parks.

They moved back to Grays Harbor in 2005, and Barbara spent her final years in Ocean Shores, Washington.

Barbara was very active during her entire life, and enjoyed walking, and swimming, and being outdoors.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 58 years, Max Corey; her brother, Stanley Arnold of Denver, Colorado; her son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Marian of Kent, Washington; her daughter Jill of Murrieta, California; five grandchildren, Christopher (and his wife, Jennifer), Daisy, Shaun, Carolyn and Bryan; and two great-grandchildren, Jessica and Alex.

There will be a celebration of Barbara’s life on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 11:00 AM in Fern Hill Funeral Home, 2208 Roosevelt St, Aberdeen, WA. A potluck reception will follow in Fern Hill’s Dorothy Mann Reception Hall. Barbara will be inurned at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA.
