Phyllis Nadine chestnut, 82, Aberdeen resident since 1943, died
Tuesday morning, may 10, 2011 at Montesano Health & Rehab in
Montesano, WA.
Phyllis was born on January 31, 1929 in Coquille, Oregon to William
Hugh and Ethel (McNair) Smith. She came to Aberdeen in 1943 and
graduated form Weatherwax High School in 1946. She went right to work
for the phone company until 1948 when she quit to raise her family.
Phyllis married Mahlon Chestnut on August 6, 1948. Mahlon died last
month on April 16, 2011.
Phyllis was a member of the Grays Harbor Geology & Gem Society. She
also collected Wedgwood. Phyllis enjoyed hunting, fishing, being
outdoors, clam digging, walks on the beach and an avid knitter,
knitting consistently. she was a rock hound and did some water
paintings. she enjoyed and looked foreword to family gatherings on
Easter and the 4th of July in Ohut.
Phyllis is survived by two sons: Frank and wife Sharon of Cosmopolis,
Patrick J. and wife Valerie of Kona, HI; a daughter: Robin and husband
John Olson of North Bend, WA; a brother William Eugene and wife Diane
Smith of Aberdeen; Three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The family suggests that donations be made to the Union Gospel
Mission, P.O. Box 859, Aberdeen, WA 98520.
