Joseph Bullen

March 11, 1982 — December 12, 2019

Joseph Naum Bullen, 37, passed away on Thursday December 12, 2019 at about 8:45 pm in a one-man car accident in Aberdeen, WA, there was no evidence of drugs or alcohol.

He delighted his parents, Thomas and Diana Naum Bullen with his arrival into this world on March 11, 1982 at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. Joe, as his friends called him, leaves behind his four-year-old daughter Joy and siblings Monica (Shawn) Jensen, Mesa, AZ, Karla (Johnny) Blair, Puyallup, WA, James Bullen, Redmond, WA, Emily Bullen, Puyallup, WA and John (Eryn) Bullen, Phoenix, AZ.

He grew up in a military family and lived throughout the USA, Germany and South Korea. Joseph earned his Eagle Scout at the tender age of 13 years old. By then he had also been a magazine model for high-end clothing brands and a known TV star in an educational TV show in Korea. He attended Lakes High School and earned his high school diploma through American High School online.

He worked as a carpenter and framer prior to enlisting in the US Marine Corps. He twice deployed with 2nd Marine Division, 10th Marine Regiment to Fallujah and Ramadi and was a Sargent at the time of his honorable discharge in 2008.

He trained as an ER medic but decided to move from the medical arena to long-haul truck driving. He had a passion for driving and being on the road. Joseph was athletic and excelled in many sports. He enjoyed boxing and was part of the 2nd Marine Division Boxing team at Camp Lejeune, NC. He enjoyed traveling, mechanics, hiking, and being outdoors. Despite the mental maladies that tortured his mind and distorted his perception, Joseph had a tender and giving heart. When he was grounded in his true nature, he was genuinely concerned for the well being of those around him and helped those he felt were less fortunate than him.

“For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.” Kahlil Gibran

We will always carry your memory in our hearts, Joseph!

He will be interred at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 11:30 AM with full Marine Corps Honor’s. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Joseph Bullen, please visit our flower store.
