Elizabeth “Liz” Bubnick, 95, a life-time resident of the Harbor, passed away Monday, May 4, 2020 at Brookdale Olympia West Assisted Living, Olympia, WA. Liz was born in Aberdeen, September 21, 1924, the daughter of Willis and Florence (Payne) James.
Liz was raised in Aberdeen and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1942. She married Frank Hart in Aberdeen in 1944 and they were divorced in 1970. She would then marry Dr. Frank Bubnick in 1972. Dr. Bubnick died here on February 28, 1993.
She worked for many years in real estate sales and had served as president of the Realtor’s Association. She also assisted Dr. Bubnick when he needed to make house calls.
Liz took pride in her homemade cooking and was known for her homemade pies.
Liz was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Aberdeen, and belonged to the Altar Society. She enjoyed playing Bingo, but her family was always #1 in priority. Her grandkids called her “GL” short for Grandma Liz. She was also an avid Husky Football and track fan.
She is survived by two daughters: Nancy and husband Terry Campbell, Redmond, WA and Tary and husband Jeff Bowers, Aberdeen; a brother: David Jennings, Aberdeen; and also six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Inurnment will take place on the graves of her family in Fern Hill Cemetery. There will be no services.
