Walter Brudvik

April 8, 1932 — July 28, 2012

Walter Joseph Brudvik’s life on earth came to a close on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Federal Way, WA. After a very long good bye -- a 12-year struggle with Alzheimer’s-- he finally made his transition to the other side. Walt entered this world on April 8, 1932 just west of his Turtle Mountain Ojibwa heritage, in Bottineau, North Dakota. He moved to Aberdeen, WA when he was 5 years old and over the years he became a genuine South Aberdeen guy; he loved his town.

Walt was a natural all-around athlete, the real McCoy. His gift for basketball was evident at an early age. He was a guard on Aberdeen High’s ’49 & ’50 teams that went to State, and was proudly the 1950 class president of Aberdeen HS. From there he went on to play ball for the US Navy Seabees, and then to Central Washington State College on a basketball scholarship. He was a real “people person” and had a long career in Sales and Marketing.

He played a mean game of golf, a meaner game of pool and his bowling game was the meanest ever. On top of that he was a good dancer… and pretty handsome too! Those of you who had the pleasure to know him will no doubt remember his sense of humor… always ready with the jokes and the funny stuff.

We have been missing our dad, our brother, our friend, and his fun personality for a very long time. He taught us to enjoy the simple things in life, to live in the moment (Carpe Diem!) and to be loyal to family and friends.

Walt is survived by his 4 daughters - Lori, Jodi, Wendi and Juli; his 3 brothers - Dale, Ken and Len; his granddaughters - Lindsay, Chelsay, Lark and Wren; 4 nieces – Jacque, Kelly, Lauren and Mahlia; and 1 nephew – David. He is predeceased by his father, Carl, his mother, Celia and his sister, Arlene. We know his BFF, Punk Hayes, is waiting with pool cues in hand and his Ma has buttermilk pancakes with peanut butter and syrup ready. We love you Walter!
