Nellie Margaret Bowers

Nellie Margaret Bowers passed away on August 22, 2011, at Pacific Care Nursing Home in Hoquiam. Nellie was born on January 24, 1920, in Chicago, Illinois to Yugoslavian immigrant parents, John and Mary Franich. She moved from Chicago to South Aberdeen in 1924. Nellie graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1938.

Nellie met Glenn Bowers in 1945 while Glenn was stationed on the west coast during World War II. They were married in 1948 in Maryland, and lived in Pennsylvania until 1950, when they

returned to Aberdeen.

Nellie’s career included over 32 years with the Aberdeen School District. Her work with the District included a position in the office at Weatherwax High School, and Librarian at A.J. West

Elementary. Nellie was a long time member of St. Peter & Paul’s Catholic Church in Aberdeen.

In addition to her husband of 64 years, Glenn, Nellie is survived by her sons, Jeff of Aberdeen, Brian of Seattle; daughter-in-law Teresa of Aberdeen, sister Goldie Peterson of Olympia; brother-in-law Don Peterson of Olympia; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and five nieces and nephews.

Nellie cherished her time with family and friends, bingo, trips to the casinos, and was a Mariners

fan.

No memorial is scheduled. There will be a private family graveside service at 11:00 AM.,

Friday, August 26th at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen. A public reception will take place at Noon on Friday at Bridges Restaurant in Aberdeen.
