Carmen Parthenia Bickel, 70, Westport resident and In-Home-Care Nurse with COPS, died Thursday, October 27, 2011 at her home in Westport.
Carmen was born on August 17, 1941 in Plainview, Texas to Elmer and Margret (Curtis) Mayfield. At the age of 9, she moved to Ventura, CA. She graduated from Ventura High School. She married Roger Crain in Ventura, CA. They later divorced in the early 70's.
Carmen became a nurse while in California and worked in hospitals and in doctors offices.
In 1975, Carmen moved to Portland, OR and then to Aberdeen in 1989 and then Westport in 2001.
On October 25, 1989, Carmen married Paul Bickel in a private personal ceremony. On November 27, 1989 they were married in a public ceremony in Aberdeen. Paul resides at the family home.
Carmen belonged to the Society for Creative Anachronisms “SCA”. A twelve year member, she was bestowed in 1998 with the title 'Her Ladyship Parthenia Cambrone of Loycle'. She also liked to read and do anything with family, and family came first in her book. If you were her friend, you were family.
Carmen is survived by her husband Paul of Westport; a daughter Iris Crain-Dihel of Yuma, AZ; grandchildren: Scott Crain, James Creain-Diehl, Angella Crain-Diehl and a great grandchildren, Jason and a newly born one. A brother Carroll and wife Charice Mayfield of Gresham, OR. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be a gathering of friends and family on Nov 26th at the Ocosta Recreation Hall from Noon to 5 pm.
