Bradford H. “Brad” Barnes, 88, longtime resident of Grays Harbor and the florist to many, died at Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, Sunday, November 19, 2017. He was born in Bellingham, WA July 12, 1929, the son of Bradford B. and Theresa (Hovde) Barnes. He came to Aberdeen when he was 10 years old. He was a graduate of Weatherwax High School in 1947, a proud Bobcat his entire life, and attended City College of San Francisco.
He married Nancy Louise Morgan in Olympia, July 11, 1953. Following previous family avocations Brad established Barnes Florists in Aberdeen. He and Nancy operated the shop for 55 years, retiring in 2014.
Brad was a member of the Aberdeen Elks Lodge, No. 593, The Elks National Band and was also an Honorary Aberdeen Firefighter. He belonged to bowling leagues for many years, finally rolling his last ball in his eighties.
Besides his wife of 64 years, Nancy, Aberdeen, he is survived by five daughters: Jenifer and husband Roy Watson, Hoodsport, WA, Julie Nelson and Stacie Sturgill, both of Aberdeen, Molly and husband Chuck Bates, Montesano and Amy and husband Mike DuBois, Cosmopolis; eleven grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held at 1 P.M. Sunday, December 3rd at the Aberdeen Elks Lodge.
