Connie Balderston

October 12, 1958 — September 6, 2011

Connie Marie Balderston, 52, resident of Aberdeen and former Processor for US Bank in Portland, OR, died Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen.

Connie was born in Vancouver, Washington on October 12, 1958 to Donald and Diana Arlene (Williams) Balderston. She grew up in Aberdeen and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1976.

At age 19, she joined Jobcorps where she learned welding. She then moved to Portland where she went to work at the Portland Shipyards until she was injured at age 25 and had to leave her welding career behind. She went to work for Space Age Fuels in Portland as the manager for a couple of years. She then went to work for US Bank in downtown Portland as a Processor. She really enjoyed the job and the people she worked with. In 2004 she was again forced to quit a job she loved, because of a disability.

Connie returned to Aberdeen to be with her mother eight months ago to be with family.

Connie was a champion bowler and dart thrower, she played the guitar and loved to sing and enjoyed karaoke. She also enjoyed playing softball when she was younger. She liked to go camping, fishing, traveling and was an avid Seahawks Fan, going to most every Seahawk home game on the Amtrak Seahawk Special from Portland. She also did the Super Bowl Chili Cookoff's every year.

Connie is survived by her mother, Diana Balderston of Aberdeen, WA; Aunts: Shirley Rajicich and Gloria Irwin both of Aberdeen, WA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and her dog and companion, Buddy. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Balderston and her best friend Debbie Hampton.

There will be a celebration of Connie’s life on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 2:00 PM in Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, WA. Graveside inurnment will follow at Fern Hill Cemetery with a potluck reception to follow in The Dorothy Mann Reception Hall in Fern Hill Funeral Home.
