Edna Lucille Antich, a long-time resident of Grays Harbor, died peacefully Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital with her family at her side. She was 91. Edna was born in Ellensburg, WA, October 22, 1921, the daughter of Charles E. and Anna P. (Wilson) Culp. She was the youngest of their 7 children. Edna married Edward N. Antich on August 15, 1947. He preceded her in death in 2003.
Edna graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1939 and received her teaching certificate from Central Washingon College in 1942. She came to Hoquiam and taught at Emerson School for two years before moving to San Diego to work at the Naval Air Station during World War II. She returned to Hoquiam in 1944 where she taught at Lincoln and Emerson Elementary Schools until 1949.
!n 1948, she and Ed acquired a small door-to-door brush and cleaning supply business which they grew into the current Antich Supply Company. They retired and transferred the business to their son Gary, in 1983.
Edna enjoyed sewing, knitting, crossword puzzles, playing cards and bingo. She and Ed looked forward to their bus trips to Reno and kept their fellow travelers entertained with her never ending reservoir of jokes. She loved working in her yard and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Gary, and wife, Julie, Cosmopolis; a daughter, Barbara, and husband Mike Roberts, Belfair, WA; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Chuy. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at 1 PM Monday, January 28th at the the Aberdeen Elks Lodge on South Boone Street in South Aberdeen. A private entombment was held in the Colonnades at Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen.
