Virginia Elizabeth Allton, 93, a resident of Raymond area for a number of years, died at Willapa Harbor Hospital, South Bend, Sunday, April 3, 2011. She was born in Bennett, Utah, January 19, 1918, the daughter of Edwin and Blanch R. (Bennett) Mitchell.
She was raised in Utah and Wyoming, graduating from Big Piney High School in Big Piney, WY in 1935. She married Raymond B. Allton in Big Piney on January 15, 1936. They had lived in Detroit, Michigan, Idaho Falls, ID and Rock Springs, WY. Mr. Allton died in Rock Springs in 1972 and Virginia came to Raymond in 1977. She moved to Aberdeen in 1992, returning to South Bend seven years ago.
Virginia is survived by her son and wife, Doug (Wannette) Allton, Raymond; granddaughters: LeeAnn (Joel) Brown and Toni Marie (Courtney) Floyd, The Dalles, OR; a grandson: Michael Raymond (Carrie) Allton, Westport; and also 8 great grandchildren and a great grandmother to 10 step-great grandchildren; a sister: Sybil Masoner, Amazonia, MO and a brother: Larry Mitchell, Salt Lake City, UT; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond in 1972, and brothers Scott, Edwin and Leonard Mitchell and a sister, Cree.
It was her request there would be no services. She will be inurned at a later date next to her husband, Raymond, in Rock Springs, WY at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
