Joseph “Jay” LeRoy Abbott Jr., 29, Hoquiam resident and former mill worker passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023, in Hoquiam, Washington.
Jay was born on June 7, 1994, to Joseph Abbott Sr., and Michelle (Lenz) Abbott in Aberdeen, Washington. The family lived in Grays Harbor over the next few years, and when Jay was 5, they moved to Cusick, Washington. He attended Bess Herian Elementary School. At 12 years old, Jay and family moved back to Washington, where he attended Hoquiam schools. After his school years, Jay began working in various mills. Eventually, he went to work for The Little River Mill in Hoquiam where he spent quite a few years. In 2021, Jay became a father to a beautiful baby boy, Warren. Jay was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, and friend who was loved dearly and will be missed by all.
Jay loved to be outside, and anything to do with the outdoors of the Pacific Northwest. He enjoyed basketball, skateboarding, and most other sports.
Jay is survived by his son, Warren; mother, Michelle (Chuck) Abbott; of Aberdeen, Washington; father, Joseph Abbott Sr., of Ione, Washington; sisters: Barbie (Joe) Reece, of Hoquiam; Rose (Manuel) Abbott, of Hoquiam, Washington; and Stephanie (David) Floch, of Hoquiam, Washington; nephews: Tyson, Brayln, and Eli; nieces: Amelia and Athena, as well as many other family and friends.
Jay is preceded in death and greeted in Heaven by grandparents: Homer and Buelah Abbott and Christine Lenz; many aunts and uncles, and nephew Taylor.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 1:00 PM located at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2735 Riverview Dr., in Aberdeen. A reception will follow. Arrangements have been entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
