Obituary for Timothy Joe "Joe" Compton Sr.

Timothy Joe Compton Sr.79, long standing Aberdeen resident, and former welder and fabricator passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at his family home in Aberdeen.

Joe was born on May 1, 1943, to parents Estel Lee “Mutt” and Dorothy Compton in Brownwood, Texas. He was proud to be a Texan. Mutt was in the military, so the family traveled frequently, and Joe was proud of that fact as well. While they were stationed in Japan, and Germany they traveled throughout the European countries. While attending high school, Joe met Roberta Murphy and the two began a courtship. After graduating high school, the couple married on January 24, 1964 in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho. Joe and Bobbi later had 2 children: Timothy Jr., and Michelle Renee. While working for Weyerhaeuser as a welder/fabricator where he would spend over 40 years; he became a union representative with the IWA Union for ten years; also taught welding classes at Grays Harbor College.

Joe was a gifted man with a kind soul. After retirement he poured himself and his heart into woodworking, and maintaining his garden and yard. He had a love for all animals, but especially for his dachshund baby, Macklemore.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

Joe is survived by his wife of 59 years, Roberta “Bobbi” Compton, of Aberdeen, Washington; his son, Tim ( Erin) Compton Jr., of Glendale, Arizona; daughter, Michelle (Mike) LeGear of Rochester, Washington; 8 grandchildren: Deanna, Sean, Chris, Britnee, Jason, Jennifer, Zac, and Cody; and 20 great grandchildren.

A day of visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington. A service will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Fern Hill Funeral Home, with a graveside service following at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen, Washington.
