Obituary for Roger Lee Larson

We are sad to announce the passing of Roger Lee Larson of Westport. He passed away at the age of 61 on August 10, 2022 at Harbor Regional Health in Aberdeen. Roger passed away surrounded by his loved ones after a long battle with cancer.

Roger was born on April 20, 1961 in Palo Alto, California to Allen and Barbara (Haines) Larson. After several years, Roger, his mom, stepdad Ralph Sowards and siblings moved to Tacoma and then later to Anchorage, Alaska.

On July 24, 1980, Roger married Kathleen Theresa Harter in Wasilla, Alaska. Since then Roger and Kathy have lived in Arizona, California and Oregon. In 2004, they moved to Washington State making it their permanent home.

Roger worked for Rite Aid for 23 years as a store manager up until his retirement. They then decided to move to Westport and bought their forever home. Roger was always a hard worker and loved to stay busy so he decided to go back to work and became the manager at Dollar General in Westport.

Roger loved to renovate homes with his wife, Kathy. Growing fruits and vegetables in his garden as well as making sure he had the greenest grass on the block. He loved to cook and especially love to BBQ. His most favorite pastime was to find different recipes to use on his Trager that his son bought him for father’s day. He loved to make his infamous ribs and bake chocolate chip cookies from scratch. He also loved to go crabbing on the docks with his daughter when she would come to visit. Nevertheless, his most favorite thing in the world was spending time with his grandson Trent whether it be riding the lawnmower together or going to the beach.

Roger is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathleen Larson of Westport; his son Garrett Larson of Tacoma, Washington; his daughter, Tamala Larson of Lynnwood, Washington; grandson, Trent Larson of Seattle, Washington; his father, Allen Larson of Gig Harbor, Washington; his brother Robert Larson of Eagle River, Alaska; ½ brother, Jeffrey Larson of New Jersey; and his sister, Debbie Terry and brother in law Jerry Terry of Palmer, Alaska.
