Obituary for Robert Lee Ratliff

Robert Lee Ratliff, 75, and longtime Satsop resident went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving wife of 57 years.

Robert was born on December 20, 1946 in Magnolia, Texas to parents, William and Lois ( Russell) Ratliff. He was born and raised in Texas, attending school for quite some time, but because he belonged to a large family with 12 other brothers and sisters, he quit going to school so he could join the workforce to help provide for his family. When he was just a teenager, after a day at the local swimming pool, Robert attended a teen dance the facility held that night, where he met Charrolotte and was swept off his feet. The two fell head over heels in love, marrying just after 3 months. They wed on September 10, 1964 in Channel View, Texas and would later spend the next 57 years together. Robert spent his days working in construction and his nights as a family man. Robert and Charlotte had 2 beautiful children: a son, Robert Davis, and a daughter, Jeanne. In 1987, the family moved to Seattle, Washington. Robert was in the construction industry for 20 years, until he decided it was time for a change and went on to painting houses. In 1994, the family moved to Montesano, Washington spending a few years in the city before purchasing their Satsop home in 2000. He continued as a painter for 30 years. Before retirement, he took a job as a caregiver at Fircrest School in Shoreline, Washington. He retired a few years later due to an injury.

Robert was a member of the Central Park Neighborhood Church for many years. He became a prayer warrior on the prayer team, which he enjoyed very much. Robert had a great passion for the church as well as respect and friendship with the current and previous pastors.

As much as Robert enjoyed being involved with the church, he had a multitude of other interests, he loved to garden and fish. He would even go shrimping and crabbing , he would take the family for a fishing trip that would last for days. He also enjoyed sports, watching football, baseball and golf. Robert’s biggest joys and passions were the Lord and his family. He loved being a dad, but there is something special about a grandfather. His daughter became a foster parent, and while she had biological children, Robert loved each child as his own, and provided each with a grandpa’s love. For the last several years, Robert’s health had been declining, but his positivity and attitude remained the same. He was a very funny and silly man, always cracking jokes and smiling. Regardless of his health, he never lost his sense of humor. Though he is home with the Lord, he will greatly be loved and missed.

Robert has been reunited in heaven with his mother and father, loving son, Robert Davis, and his dear friend Pastor Bob Rester. Before Robert’s passing, he mentioned that he was so happy that he would soon see his son, and Bob once again.

Robert is survived by: his wife, Charrolotte Ratliff; daughter, Jeanne Bernhardt and her husband, Klaus, of Central Park; 5 brothers; 7 sisters; 4 grandchildren: Robert, Benjamin, Martin, and Gianna, as well as 50 foster grandkids throughout the years, that he loved and cared for as his own.

A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 27 at 1:00 PM located at Central Park Neighborhood Church on 7010 Bryrwood Drive, in Aberdeen, Washington. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home, in Aberdeen, Washington.
