Obituary for Marie White (Benger)

Marie Erlene White, “Benger”, 77, an Ocean Shores resident passed away on May 20, 2022 at her home in Ocean Shores, Washington.

Marie was born on October 23, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois to parents Raymond and Erlene Benger. She grew up in Chicago and after graduating high school, Marie moved to Canastota, New York and started working for Die Molding. While working, Marie started her family. Having three children: James born in 1964, Laura in 1969, and Wendy born in 1973. Marie continued to work and raise her family until 1987, when the family moved to Tacoma, Washington to be with Marie’s mother. She worked with various companies doing a number of different things. When her parents began operating their local VFW, Marie began helping there as well. She devoted her time to being a mother, caring for her own mother, and assisting at the VFW, she became a lifetime member in 1995. For the next ten years, the family resided in Tacoma, and settled in their family home in Ocean Shores, Washington thereafter.

Maire loved to both play and coach softball, passing the love of the game to her children. Any team she coached, always won their games and took first place amongst the teams.

Marie is survived by her three children: James Oster, of Ocean Shores, Washington; Laura White, of Ocean Shores, Washington; and Wendy White, of Grays Harbor; brother, James Benger, of Washington State; sisters, Joyce Huber of Waterville, Washington; Peggy Muchlinski, of Ephrata, Washington, Sherry Steen, and Betty Risvetoy of Pacific Beach, Washington.

Marie is preceded in death by both her mom and dad, as well as her sister, Terry Hodge.

No formal services are scheduled. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home, in Aberdeen, Washington.
