Obituary for Lynne Renee Fries (Duncan)

Lynne Renee Fries, 62, a long time Harborite passed away on April 28, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Lynne was born on August 26, 1959, to parents Robert Duncan and Gloria White. Although born in Aberdeen, Lynne grew up in Wishkah and graduated from Wishkah High School in 1977. Succeeding high school, she went on to attend Grays Harbor College and began work at Sambo’s Restaurant. While working, she met the love of her life and coworker, David Fries. They wed on November 15, 1980, moved to Montesano, and began their family. They would later have three children: Angela, Roxanne, and Aaron. In 1984, the family moved back to Aberdeen. After the opening of the Southshore Mall, Lynne began working at K-Mart. She spent the next few years raising her family and working at K-Mart until its closing. After the store’s closing, Lynne started with Quinault Beach Resort and Casino in customer service for a number of years until becoming a security officer with Weyerhaeuser until her retirement. Lynne enjoyed retirement with her husband for a few short years until, sadly on June 1, 2013, Lynne’s husband, David Berry Fries, of many years passed away.

Lynne found her joy in many things to include her friendships with coworkers, crossword puzzles, crochet, genealogy, and baking. She loved a good game of pinochle when she could squeeze in the time, but Lynne always made sure she had time for each and every Seahawk game, she loved her Hawks. She made sure to make time for reading as well, if she was caught up in a good book, Lynne would finish it that same day. While Lynne had many interests, her most enjoyable was her family and her one and only beautiful, beloved granddaughter.

Lynne is survived by her daughters; Angela Dawn Fries, and Roxanne Sharee Fries, both from Aberdeen, WA; son, Aaron David Fries, also from Aberdeen, WA; brother, Robert Charles Duncan, of Satsop, WA; sisters, Gwen Marie Hamilton and Cindy Lee Matthews both of Wishkah; granddaughter, Alyvea Jane Rasmussen; various nieces and nephews; and a large extended family whom Lynne loved as her own.

Lynne left these parting words to those she loved: “I wanted to thank all of you for your friendships over the years. You all have a special place in my heart. I wanted you to know that. You have all given me such wonderful friendships, made working bearable, and hours & hours of laughter and fun. Thank all of you so much.”

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 starting at 3:00 PM at Fern Hill Funeral Home in the Chapel, located in Aberdeen, WA. A reception will follow in the Dorothy Mann Reception Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Tiffany Bowman’s GoFundMe account, as she is a loved member of the family and Lynne would want her to be taken care of. Service arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home, in Aberdeen, WA.
