Obituary for Hans Jurgen Kunkel

Hans Jurgen Kunkel, 72, Elma resident and local farmhand, passed away on December 24, 2020 at his home in Elma, WA.
Hans was born in Hamburg, Germany on August 19, 1948 to Kurt Helmid and Else Emma (Sheffel) Kunkel. Hans' family moved to Rochester, Minnesota when he was 7 and then to Lynnwood, WA in 1965.
Hans joined the US Navy in 1967 and served until 1970. He returned to Richmond Beach area of Seattle and then to Montesano to live and work at Louie's Farm. He then moved to Aberdeen for 12 years and then to Elma in 1992.
He enjoyed going to Lucky Eagle Casino, camping, hiking & chatting with his daughter. He was a generous man & lived his best life while on trips to Southern California the last few years with his daughter creating cherished memories.
Hans is survived by his daughter, Jolene Kaleita of Hesperia, CA and a sister, Karin Kunkel of Oak Harbor, WA.
He will be inurned with Navy honors at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA on February 16, 2021 at 1 PM.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, WA.
