Obituary for Thomas Earl "Checky" Simera Sr.

Thomas Earl Simera, Sr. (Checky), 76, a lifetime resident of the Harbor, died at Grays Harbor Community Hospital, Aberdeen, Monday, September 7, 2020. He was born in Aberdeen, February 23, 1944, the son of John and Dorothy (Pierson) Simera. He attended Aberdeen schools and had served in the US Army.
He then worked for many years in log road construction as a truck driver. He had worked for various companies to include; Friend and Rikalo, Hawk Superior Rock of Raymond, Entus Construction and retired from Schermer Construction in 2018 due to ill health.
Tom was a member of the Aberdeen Eagles and the 40et8. He also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and working on his Corvettes. He was especially fond of the crew at the 40et8.
He is survived by a son, Thomas Earl Simera, Jr., who passed away September 9, 2020.
Tom is also survived by his wife: Judith Ann “Judy” Simera, Ocosta; two other sons: Michael Powers and Gerald Powers, both of Saint Petersburg, Florida; a step-son: Chad Murphy, Aberdeen; two daughters: Carmen (Todd) Hart, of Tampa, Florida, Jody Ronning, Hoquiam; two step-daughters: Tara (Ed) Weber of Ferndale, WA and Shawna (Roy) Myers, Aberdeen; a brother: John R. Simera, Hoquiam; and also 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later time when all can gather.
