Obituary

David C. “Davie” Ross, Jr., 55, died unexpectedly in Grayland, WA, Friday, May 8, 2020. He was a resident of South Bend, WA and had lived in the South Beach area for many years.
Davie was born in Seattle, WA, September 18, 1964, the son of David C. Sr., and Billy J. (Parker) Ross. The family had lived in Mountlake Terrace and came to Westport in 1975. Davie graduated in 1982 from Ocosta High School where he played football and excelled in weightlifting.
He worked in Renton, WA for several years and later moving back to Westport, worked at the Westport Shipyards. Because of health reasons he worked doing automotive repairs and other odd jobs until his death last week. He had lived in South Bend for the last five years.
He enjoyed spending time with his dog on the beach and collecting rocks.
Davie is survived by his mother, Billy J. Ross, South Bend; a son: Austin E. Ross, Wapello, Iowa; a sister: Nickie and husband Nick Roberson, Lacey; and also two grandchildren. A son, Dustin K. Ross, died before him in 2015.

I met Dave Ross in 1997 . He was working at the Westport Ship Yard back then.  Instantly, he had my admiration for the fact that he was a single Father , then raising two boys.  We were friends from that day forward. Dave was my "bro". He was my" buddy". Dave was a helpful and loyal friend, a compassionate man with a big heart, and a good father.  And he was well-liked by many.  He and I went on several adventures over the years . Though I'm unfortunate in having lost a very good friend much too soon, I am fortunate in having had a great friendship with a good man for 23 years. Up until May 8th, Dave and I enjoyed many good times together.  Dave's unexpected death has made me realize that we only share "good times" with friends until they leave us. After that moment things change forever and those "good times" become  "fond memories". Fond memories are bitter-sweet for the fact that those memories are only fond for one of us when the other is gone. For me,  that is a profoundly sad and sobering realization.  I never anticipated that his journey would end this soon . Frankly, I find it tragic and difficult.  I'm going to miss my buddy, David C Ross Jr.

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little, but not for long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that once we shared
Miss me, but let me go.

For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's said to be part of the master plan
And a step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know.
Laugh at all the things we used to do
Miss me, but let me go.

Rest easy Dave. Peace be with you my friend,  ~John Butcher~

My heart was sadden to read about the the loss of David and I wanted to give my warmest condolences to the family. He was so well loved and to lose someone like him can bring such sadness but the God of comfort tells us at 2 Kings 20:5 He feels our pain. At jw.org we can read in the Bible John 5:28,29 that not only does God care but he will also remove all the suffering he sees and gives assurance that you will have him in your life once again. May all the beautiful memories you have give you calm and peace until God’s promises come true. Again so very sorry for your heartache. 💐
