Obituary for Georgia Mae Hatley (Wilson)

Georgia Wilson Hatley, 94, a lifetime resident of Grays Harbor and Aberdeen, passed away at her home Valentines Day, Friday, February 14, 2020. She was born in Hoquiam, WA, September 3, 1925, the daughter of Guy A. and Hazel (VanAlstine) Wilson.
She attended schools in Grays Harbor and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1943. She performed as drum majorette and spoke fondly of her high school days, friends and classmates. Georgia never missed a reunion for her “Class of ‘43”.
She was married to Syd Hatley in Aberdeen, December 17, 1949.
Georgia was an independent woman an accomplished needle crafter and avid reader. Her family, children and grandchildren were most important throughout her long life.
She is survived by a daughter, Claudette (Gordy) Scure, a son, David L. Hatley, three grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Syd Hatley, Sr., in 2004, a son, Syd Hatley, Jr., a sister, Francis Herrick and a brother, David Wilson.
Georgia will be missed greatly and fondly remembered by family, friends and all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, February 24th in the chapel at Fern Hill Funeral Home, Aberdeen. Private interment will take place next to her husband, Syd, in Fern Hill Cemetery. Following the services please join family and friends for a potluck and social at the VFW, Aberdeen.
