Patricia Mary ‘Pat’ Lonac, 89, lifetime Aberdeen resident, died Tuesday afternoon, February 19th at Pacific Care Center in Hoquiam, WA.
Pat was born on February 15, 1930 in Aberdeen to John M. and Clara Rosa (Van Loo) Jasper. She graduated from Aberdeen Weatherwax High School in 1948 and then from Grays Harbor Business College.
On August 20, 1950, Pat married Reginald Inman. He passed away in 1967.
On August 21, 1971, Pat married Robert “Gunny” Lonac in Seattle, WA. He passed away on May 15, 2007.
Pat worked for the Dept. of Veterans Affairs as a Veterans Contact Representative for the State of Washington from 1960 until her retirement in 1971. Before that she had worked for the Grays Harbor Log Scaling and Grading Bureau and Arctic Fur.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Alter Society; St. Rose’s Guild of St. Mary’s; St. Aurilla’s Guild at St. Mary’s in Aberdeen; Aberdeen VFW Auxiliary, Post #224 and the American Legion Auxiliary, Post #5; Grays Harbor Country Club and SIGHT of Grays Harbor. She enjoyed many lunches at the Aberdeen Senior Center with her friend Kathryn Yakovich who also took her to church and breakfast most Sundays.
Pat loved flower arranging, going to and working at Bazaars, painting and cooking classes, gardening, collecting costume jewelry, bus trips with Channel Point, and attending various church activities. She loved being a grandma, and bought her first home so that she could babysit her grandkids.
Pat is survived by two step-daughters: Barbara Durney of Aberdeen and Emily (John) Strader of Lacey; grandchildren: Jennifer Durney, Annie Strader, Patrick (Katie) Durney and John Strader IV; great grandchildren: Kaila and Kylie Hogarty; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers Lidwina Tromp, Wilma McCullough, Delores Lauzon, Irvin F. Jasper, Jack W. Jasper and Ronald J. Jasper.
A rosary service will take place on Monday, February 25th at 11:30 AM in St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass for Pat will take place at Noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Burial will take place at Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, WA.
The family wishes to thank the Staff of Channel Point and Pacific Care Center for their love and care of Pat.
