Obituary for Marlyn Jean "Suzie Q" Soberanes (Cleveland)

Marlyn Jean “Suzie Q” Soberanes, 80, a waitress and bar tender for several Grays Harbor restaurants for many years, died at her home at Aberdeen, Sunday, January 6, 2019. She was born in Aberdeen, Washington, February 12, 1938, the daughter of Warren and Mable (McKinnon) Cleveland.
She came with her family to the Harbor as a child, attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1956 where she received several medals for swimming competition. She worked early on at the chair factory. She later was a waitress and bartender at The Mint, The Spar, 40et8, Owl Tavern, Smoke Shop and the Rainier Lanes. She retired in the early 1990s.
Marlyn enjoyed her yard and flower beds, and antique shopping. Her favorite colors were pink and purple that she would work into her home décor’.
Marlyn is survived by two daughters: Billie Boardman, Elma and Lisa (Don) Dellinger, Mt. Vernon, WA; two sons: Paul (Kim) Creswell and Kim P. Day, both of Aberdeen; a brother: Ernest Cleveland, Aberdeen; a sister: Nita Vincent, Colville, WA; and also five grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A gathering of family and a celebration will be held next Summer.
