I guess I'm one of the 60 neices an nephews. I never knew there are so many of us! Such a large family and so many seeds sown. I am Donna Mae, James B. Seitz's fifth child, second daughter. Donna Mae, the family calls me, named after Donna Mae Haggerty - another of Daddy's sisters.
Considering Zona lived clear across the country, we were pretty lucky to see her once every year or two. When she came, she brought tons of pictures with her, and would sit and patiently explain who each person was, and where they were and what they were doing on that day. I say patiently, because I was always full of questions, and she indulged me with many answers. As a little girl, it seemed to me that she lived such an exciting and adventurous life. So many exotic places (to me anyway) and so many people who she knew and loved. She always spent a little bit of time alone with me.....just me alone, and being part of a fairly large family myself, that was pretty special to me.
When our Daddy passed away, she came. I held her hands and looked into those sparkleling eyes that seemed as if she had a fun secret to tell you. It was like looking into my Daddys eyes just one more time. I'll never forgot how much my Daddy treasured her visits, and how much fun we had when she came. I guess I'll just have to be a good girl and stay on the good side of The Lord so I can see them all again.
When Mummy passed away, I was given all of the photos they had collected throughout their lives. Aunt Zona and Uncle Rich are in many of them. Some are faded Polaroids, but the memories are sharp and clear. Thank you, Aunt Zona, for your love of photography. I'll treasure the pictures always.
