Obituary for Glenn Orville Lewis Jr.

Glenn Orville Lewis, Jr., 90, former Klamath County Heavy Equipment operator, died Friday, May 12, 2017 at his sons home in Westport, WA.
Glenn was born on January 21, 1927 in Salem, Oregon to Glenn Orville and Frances Irene (Bellamy-Sefton) Lewis, Sr. He attended Salem High School and during his senior year, Class of 44’, dropped out to join the Navy. Following Bootcamp at Navel Station Farragut, Idaho, he was transferred into the 96th Naval Construction Battalion (CB’s) and served in the Philippians and then China. He was Honorably Discharged in July of 1946 and received his High School Diploma for his service to our country. Glenn continued in the Navy Reserves.
Glenn returned to Salem and in 1949, moved to Klamath Falls, OR to attend Oregon Technical Institute. Upon graduation, he was hired by Klamath County as a Heavy Equipment Operator and retired in 1992. Before that, he had worked for Kesterson Lumber Mill.
On August 31, 1951, Glenn married Milly Ward at the Congregational Church in Klamath Falls. She resides at the family home in Westport.
Glenn was a Volunteer Fireman for 12+ years for the Klamath County Fire Dist. #1 and was named Fireman of the Year. He loved to play golf, being with his kids and grandkids and traveling and hunting elk and deer. He was a color commentator for high school sports and statistician.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 65 years, Milly Lewis of Westport, WA; sons: Gary Glenn (Ginny) Lewis of Woodlands, TX, Randy Dennis (Janet) Lewis of Westport, WA, and Michael Allan (Julie) Lewis of Vancouver, WA; eleven grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Glenn was preceded in death by a brother Donald Lewis.
There will be a graveside inurnment at Davenport’s in Klamath Falls, OR on Saturday, June 24th at 10 AM.
