Condolence: Joanne I can't put into words how much I loved Dick and you. I can still see him laughing at me when I put too much air in my bike tire and it blew up. Or when I drove my car all the way from Westport with no oil in motor. Obviously car was ruined. Dick and his dad Len just shook their heads. Good memories of you and your hubby. Proud to know you and your family. God bless you at this time. Linda Rhoden-Betts
Condolence: There are so many things I learned from my father but the one that stands out more than any other is the fact that in the end, what says the most about every one of us is not what we own, or where we traveled, but the impact we have on others.
In a time where it is often common to live next door to someone for years and not even know their name, to see an entire town affected by the passing of one individual says more about them than volumes of achievements or stacks of trophies ever could.
I am more proud of my father than any 10 men, not just because he was my father, but because he really made a difference in the people who were lucky enough to know him. I was, and I am better for it.
Condolence: Dad, Thank you for being our hero!
You spent your days making sure that we all had a great life.
You taught us how to work for things that we wanted. You taught us how to appreciate what we had, not complain about what we didn't have. You went to work whether you were sick or hurting, to make sure your family was provided for. You never complained when the chips were down and your joints were giving out, you just got them replaced and started a new chapter in your life.
You never had to tell anyone how much pride you had in us kids, it was written all over your face. You were very proud of each of us and we knew it! We are very proud of you!
The girls were so lucky to grow up next door to you and be such a big part of your life, and you were a big part of theirs. You took them to piano lessons, you went to their recitals, you went to their swimming lessons even if they weren't as good as your swimming lessons. You attended all of their school plays, and many of their sporting events. But most important is that you taught them to waterski like only you could.
Your pride will live on through your great grandson too. It won't be long before Dylan is skiing with his grandpa and you can be assured, that when that day happens, we will both look up to the sky with the biggest grin on our faces, give you the biggest wave ever, and say "Thank You Dad/Grandpa/Great Grandpa" "WE LOVE YOU"
