Obituary for Cynthia Lee "Cindy" Ortiz (Porter)

Cynthia "Cindy" Lee Ortiz, 57, longtime Cosmopolis resident passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.

Cindy was born on February 12, 1956 in Aberdeen, WA to Bletcher J. and Ethel M. (Apfel) Porter. She was a 1974 graduate from Aberdeen Weatherwax High School.

On March 26, 1976, Cindy married the love of her life, "Joe" Dioscoro Ortiz I in Immanuel Baptist Church in Hoquiam. Joe resides at the family home.

Cindy worked in Member Services for Costco in Tumwater for many years.

Cindy enjoyed going to casinos, reading and doing puzzles. She also liked to play softball when she was younger and continued to have a love for the game. She was very proud of her children and adored her 3 granddogs; Buster Bruce, Benni Bee, and Baylah Bear.

Cindy is survived by her husband of 37 years, "Joe" Dioscoro R. Ortiz I of Cosmopolis; a son, "Bubba" Dioscoro R. Ortiz II of Lacey; two daughters: Jolene E. Ortiz and Josie M. Ortiz both of Lacey; seven sisters: Kay, Pat, Kathy, Pam, Rocky, Merri and Jo-Jean; and many nieces and nephews who called her Nana. Cindy was preceded in death by her mother, her father, a brother BJ and a sister Betsey.

There will be a graveside inurnment service for her on Friday, January 31st at 11 AM in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Cosmopolis, WA. A reception will follow at The Cosmopolis Lions Club.
