Obituary for Pamela Ingram Mehlhoff (Ingram)

Print
Lifelong Harborite, Pamela Ingram Mehlhoff died at Grays Harbor Community Hospital, Aberdeen, Friday, October 5, 2018. She was 65. She was born December 22, 1952, the daughter of Ernest and Gloria (Wilfong) Ingram.
Pamela graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1971 and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Education from the University of Washington in 1975. She went to Stratford on Avon, United Kingdom, for post graduate studies in Shakespeare.
She would marry her high school sweetheart, Craig D. Mehlhoff in Aberdeen on June 12, 1976 and they would make their home in Aberdeen where Dr. Mehlhoff would join the optometry practice of Fred and Thomas Berken in 1980.
Pamela worked in radio marketing, and later was a substitute teacher in the Aberdeen School District for many years. She then entered real estate where she worked six years prior to retirement.
She was a 25 year member and president of the Book Review Club of Aberdeen. She was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, No. 593, Aberdeen, and the PEO Chapter AK. Pamela was also president of the Aberdeen Shelter Service for Abused Women in the early 1980’s and the Aberdeen Young Mothers Group.
Beyond her love of literature, she enjoyed theatre and music, having combined the two playing renaissance recorder for the Southern California Recorder Society. She performed at renaissance festivals throughout Southern California. Pamela more recently played the recorder for the Aberdeen Community Band at Grays Harbor College. She loved the local music scene and had mixed sound for the band Backstreet with her husband on the lead guitar. Pamela loved live music and dancing, and with her husband could be seen at many local venues.
Pamela is survived by her husband of 42 years, Craig, at the family home; a daughter: Renzel I. Mehlhoff, Tacoma; a son: Evan I. Mehlhoff, Aberdeen; and a sister: Cynthia (Harold) Cates, Sacramento, CA. A sister, Nina Morean of Aberdeen, preceded her in death in 2012.
A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, November 3rd at 1 PM at the Aberdeen Elk’s Lodge, No 593, 1712 S. Boone St.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Ladies of the Elks, 1712 S. Boone St., Aberdeen, WA 98520.
