Obituary for Colleen Rose Ferrier (Ansberry)

Colleen Rose Ferrier, 88, Elma resident and housewife, died Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Summit Pacific Medical Center in Elma, WA.
Colleen was born on September 26, 1929 in Abilene, Kansas to Isaac Marshall and Esther Lena (Heer) Ansberry. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1947. In 1952 she caught a bus to Seattle, Washington then Bainbridge Island to be near her fiancé Elmer Lee Ferrier. On May 12, 1952, she married Elmer Ferrier and then went to Steward, Alaska. He resides at the family home.
She enjoyed taking care of their family and followed Elmer to the different construction projects that he worked on including a dam in North Dakota and then to Elma to build the highway to Aberdeen. They remained in Elma. She liked to crochet and solve puzzles. She was also an avid Elma sports booster, enjoyed doing family genealogy, traveling and going to fairs and festivals.
She is survived by her six children: Sandra Jean Hollon of Elma, Edgar Lee (Barbara) Ferrier of McCleary, Leslie Jo (Mark) Keefer of AZ, Roger Alan Ferrier of Lacey, Ronald Dale (Rainie) Ferrier of McCleary and Todd Martin Ferrier of Elma; two sisters: Shirley Grosch of Newton, KS and Relva Nuss of Geneva, IL; grandchildren: Christopher, Matthew and Nathan Ferrier, Liana Hollon and Shellie Roberts; great grandchildren: Chace, Taryn, Alena, Tia, Anthony, Ethan, Conner and Elijah. She was preceded in death by a daughter Julia Roberts, a brother John Ansberry and a grandson Earl M. Hari.
She will be inurned in Masonic Cemetery, Elma.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, WA.
