Obituary for Duane Charles Shannon

Duane Charles Shannon, 73, a retired lineman for the Grays Harbor PUD, died at his home in Elma, Sunday, October 1, 2017. He was born in Orange, California on October 25, 1943, the son of Thane Shannon.
He was later raised by his uncle and aunt, Regine M. and Frances M. Shannon. The family had come to Washington for work and Duane had attended Centralia High School, but on return to California he graduated from Costa Mesa High School.
Duane served in the Navy for four years, returning to Southern California and working for Southern Cal Edison. He found a position with the rail road at North Platt, NB. In 1978 he became a lineman for Grays Harbor PUD until he retired in 2002.
On May 22, 1982 he married Judi Whisler in Peru, NB. She survives him at the family home in Elma.
Duane was a member of the Elma Eagles and the American Legion of Yuma, AZ. He and Judi spent several winters in Yuma. He liked boating, fishing, RVing and searching the web.
Besides his wife, Judi, Duane is survived by two sons: Steven Shannon, Boston, MA and Scott Shannon, Seattle; a daughter: Debbie Shannon, Houston, TX; a sister: Kathy Walker, in Virginia; and also six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
At his request there will be no formal memorial services.
