Obituary for Diane Lee Conklin (Sage)

Diane Lee Sage-Rodden Conklin, 74, a lifetime resident of the Harbor, died at Grays Harbor Community Hospital, Aberdeen, Tuesday, September 26, 2017. Diane was born in Auburn, WA, March 25, 1943 while her mother was visiting family there. She returned with her mother to the Harbor as an infant.
Diane graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1961 and attended Grays Harbor College. She would raise her family and would support them working for American Building Maintenance and at one time owned and operated Washington Janitorial in Aberdeen. She would be a custodian at Grays Harbor College for 15 years before ill health forced her retirement in 2002.
She married Raymond Conklin in Laughlin, NV, June 1, 1991. For many years she was a member of the Aberdeen Eagles and also liked to do crafts, paintings and woodworking. Her family said Diane could do most anything when she set her mind to it.
Besides her husband of 25 years, Ray, of the home in Aberdeen, Diane is survived by two daughters: Nancy Richter, Henderson, NV and Jenny Crowley, Aberdeen; two step-daughters: Tammy Klassey and Michelle Conklin, both of Tacoma; two step-sons: Shane Conklin, Aberdeen and Steven Conklin, Renton; and also five grandchildren: Nathan Gerber, Austin, Jessica and Seth Crowley and Coreena Klassey; and two great-granddaughters: Camryn and Ryann Gerber.
A celebration of Diane’s life will be held at 5 PM Tuesday, October 3rd at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 3101 Cherry St., Hoquiam. A reception will follow at the church.
