Obituary for Mary Ellen Schilling (Green)

Mary Ellen Schilling, 74, a longtime resident of Montesano, died at an Issaquah, WA hospital, Monday, July 11, 2016. Mary was born in Panama, September 17, 1941, the daughter of William Virgil and Ellen Margaret (McOmie) Green.
She was a graduate of the University of Wyoming with a BA in Education in May 1963. She also received her MA in Education in 1991 from University of Portland.
While attending the University of Wyoming she met James Nicholas Schilling and they were married on November 9, 1963 in Anaheim, CA. Mr. Schilling died in Aberdeen on March 28, 1971.
Mary taught English at Montesano High School from 1969 until she retired in 2001. She continued to live in Montesano until the time of her death.
She enjoyed reading, bridge club, breakfast club, Altar Society at St. John’s Catholic Church, travel and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Mary is survived by two sons: Phil and wife Jodi Schilling, Renton, WA and David and wife Lisa Schilling, Bellevue, WA; a daughter: Kathy and husband Alan Elser, Renton; seven grandchildren: Zach, Jenelle, Kylie, Cassidy, Renton, and Conner and Jason Schilling, Bellevue, and Griffin Dittmar, Renton; a sister: Carol Huff, Olympia; a nephew Robert Huff, Wyoming and niece Jolene Cohn in Arizona; and numerous other family members.
A memorial Mass will be held at 10 AM Saturday, July 23rd at St. John’s Catholic Church, Montesano. A reception will follow in the church parish hall. Inurnment will then take place in Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen, on July 30th.
The family suggests memorials may be made to St. John’s Catholic Church Altar Society, Montesano.
